Hi Everybody!!
Hope everybody is having a good weekend. So far my has been good. Yesterday (after watching a few Lost episodes...second season is SO good) we got off to a late start and headed downtown to the city and the harbour. Before the sun went down (it goes down really early here- around 5:30 because its winter) we went to the Sydney Harbour to see the bridge and the Opera House. As soon as I got of the train I was amazed at how beautiful it was. It is packed with tourists and a really busy place to be. The bridge is huge in person and nice to see but I dont think I will be doing the walk over it. The Opera House is just a short walk past the bridge from the train station. It is much bigger than I expected too. And I always thought that it was one big building but each part is actually seperate. It was really nice to see it after always seeing it in pictures.
From there we walked to the down town area. It is not really that far ( you can see it in the pics from the top of the Opera House steps ) There are lots of places to shop. The big mall in that area is the Queen Victoria Building. It is mostly designer brands though and expensive. Malls in Sydney don't really look like malls and you would miss them it you didn't know. Downtown Sydney reminds me of Toronto. It has a great downtown area. From there we walked down the really busy streets (the streets are packed) to Chinatown. I am in love with Chinatown. Because it was Friday there was tonnes of little booths set up where people were selling things. Awesome things. Like lots of fake desinger stuff. I had to restrain myself. I am definately going back next friday. Lots of good fakes- Dior, Chanel and Louis and Tiffany stuff. The food courts there were cool too. There is a bunch of booths set up and the food is affordable and steaming hot when it comes out. They make it all when you order it instead of having it all pre made. Chinatown isn't that big though- especially compared to the ones in Toronto. They do have a market though that stretches about 2 blocks. I am definately going there next weekend. Ryan tells me they have lots more fake stuff there. I am in heaven.
After that we walked again to Broadway mall (the one close to the apartment). We met up with some people and went to see X-Men. You will see from the post below that was awesome.
Today I am just enjoying reading gossip and relaxing on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Hope everybody has a great weekend!
Cheers!

The view from the Opera House
This is the view from the steps of the Opera House. I really liked this picture. ( you can see the annoyed look on Ryans face because my hair kept hitting him) lol.

The view from the Opera House. This is only a small portion of the downtown area. It is huge!
Looking out the other way from the Opera House. I would love to live right over there.

Mid Week
Hi Everybody!!
It is Thursday here in Sydney. I don't really have much to post for this week yet. I haven't really done anything since I posted last. I have been taking it easy since our big weekend trip. It is expensive here and we are trying to save money. We recently booked our flights for our real big trip in July. Here's the plan- Fly to Cairns (North East Coast) and spend 3 days there. This is usually a good spot to visit the northern tip of the Great Barrier Reef. From there we are planning on travelling by bus 1.5 hours north to Daintree National Forest for 2 nights. We are actually staying at a hostel right in the middle of the Rainforest. From there we bus south past Cairns to Airlie Beach and we are there for 4 nights. Airlie beach is another great spot to visit the Reef, as well as being a short boat trip to all of the 74 islands that make up the Whitsunday Islands. From Whitsunday we fly back to Sydney. I am so excited and I can't wait until July 5!!
I think that we may be going out tonight for a few drinks since I feel like I haven't left the house for days. Not to be complaining though. Sometimes it's nice to not go anywhere for a few days. On Friday we are going to go downtown and visiting the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour. There is a boat trip that takes you out in the Harbour and stops at the zoo. We might do that so I can finally see some damn kangaroos. I'd even settle for a Koala Bear (but I've heard they can be vicous). Hopefully one of the days this weekend we will get to go see X3 - I have heard it's the best one yet so don't miss it!
Oh and here's my TV update.
Sopranos- Sucks and I'm considering boycotting if it doesn't get better soon. I'm up to date on this one and with only 2 more episodes left it has little hope of still being a mustdownload now show. Like did I really have to watch Carmella in paris for half the episode? (but I must add that a few scenes this weeke were a long time coming and it was about time there was some action in this season)
Grey's Anatomy- I've only watched the first hour of the season finale and it was better than the whole season of The Sopranos. This show just gets better and better for me. Can they really kill Denny?? The whole scene with Izzy and him killed me. I am predicting that Burke will be okay and that McDreamy and his wife break up. If you love this show as much as I do check out this website- after every episode the writer and/or the creator posts a blog page about the episode. www.greyswriters.com
24- I am downloading the finale now. This season is amazing so far. The last 2 episodes haven't been so great to me but I am expecting an awesome finale. Jack Bauer is the best character on tv. And I have really enjoyed Mrs. Logan in all her craziness this year. I have a feeling she will be big in the finale.
ANTM- I know who wins but haven't seen the episode. I'm sure it was okay, but I've been disapointed this season. Not much talent and likeable people.
Desperate Housewives- I have hated this season, but I must say episode 22 (the one before the finale- that I'm trying to download-Ugh my internet sucks) was pretty good. I liked Bree's break down, Lynette's stalking, and cheating husband, and Gabrielle and Susan getting what they deserve. I really want to see the finale.
American Idol- I haven't seen an episode since Chris got kicked off. I have been boycotting it but have decided I want to watch the finale. I just read that Taylor won. I like him and I for sure wanted him to win over Crappy Katherine but some of the best people were kicked off and neither of them deserved to be in the finale.
The O.C- Marissa finally died. Hate her and the show. Probably won't be watching next year. Worst.Season.Ever.
Saving the best for last:
LOST- I have only watched up until ? (episode 21) and I am dying to know what happens in the finale. Ryan and I are re-watching the whole 2nd season with Matt. While we were in the Gold Coast Matt watched the whole first season in a day and a half. It is just as good the second time and I can't wait until I finally get to watch the finale. Best show on tv.
Okay everybody- this LONG post is over. I will post some new pics after the weekend.
Cheers!

Road Trip
Hello Everybody!!
I hope everybody had a good long weekend! We went to the Gold Coast and had an amazing time. Surfers Paradise is one of the coolest places I've ever been. If you ever travel to the East Coast of Australia it is a must see. It is only about an hour and a half from Sydney on a plane.
We arrived around 12:00 on Friday and the weather was beautiful. We had some drinks, walked around and throughly enjoyed the pokies ( every bar in Australia has pokies - you can usually get a 100 credits for a dollar ) On Saturday we woke up early and headed to the beach. It was 26 and sunny. We spent most of the day lounging and headed out to an awesome birthday dinner. Ryan took me to Grumpy's Warf which is the best Seafood place I've ever been to. I had fish and Ryan had a mixed seafood plate. Everywhere we went we kept seeing "Bugs" on the menu. It turns out that they are not real bugs- they are a member of the lobster family and are only found on the Gold Coast. Of course we had to try it and they are so good. The look and taste alot like lobster except smaller and not as fishy tasting. We had a really good meal! So good we even took pictures of the food! That night we went Glow in the dark bowling and had some drinks- and more pokies! Sunday we went to the beach again and went souvenier shopping. When we were walking down the main strip we ran into Jim ( an old friend from St Catharines) on the street. I knew he was going to school on the Gold Coast but I had no idea where. It is crazy to just run into somebody from St Catharines randomly on the street. Ryan and I haven't seen him since Western and it was nice to run into an old friend so far away from home. We headed home and were back in Sydney by 11:30.
Overall the trip was awsome and I will never forget Surfers Paradise. It does feel nice to be back in Sydney and this week I am going to try to see some of the sights here. It is my birthday here and I am going to spend the evening eating chocolate cake and watching the Sopranos. (The perfect was to spend a birthday in my opinion)
Hope everybody's 24 was as good as mine!!
Cheers!

The City
This is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. This GUY (in the pink track suit) walks around in little girls clothes. It is not a joke. He is completely serious. If you look closely you will see that he is wearing a blue with pink polka dot ruffle bum bikini. He also wears pink uggs, carries a pink purse and had a stuffed dog with him. It was hilarious to see. Every day he had a different outfit on.
